I’m Not Too Busy

Wow -

What a whirlwind Fall has been with all of the art events and the opening of Getten Creative Studio.

For years, I spent so much time imagining what it would be like to work in a comfortable, private studio space and now, here I am. It is as wonderful as I had hoped it would be. I am joyfully creating cards and matted prints for the holiday season. I am also finishing projects and press runs for limited edition items, as well as cooking up some ideas for completely new prints.

I’ve decided to expand my availability in the retail market as well. My prints and cards are now available at 47 Degrees in Knife River, Moose-cellaneous in Two Harbors and North and Shore in west Duluth.  I am still in Dovetail Marketplace (Duluth Folk School), Cedar Coffee Company and the Voyageur Art Center.

Many of my friends think of me as a very “busy” person. But lately, the things I have been doing have been so fulfilling. My friend, Jodi Hills, has a saying (and book with this title): “My life is FULL, but I’m not too busy” https://www.instagram.com/jodihills/?hl=en I discovered her book in my Lakeside Clinic Pharmacy in Duluth, MN. It gave me a completely different perspective on “busy-ness” AND I make family and friends a priority over all of the other things that need to get done.

With Festival of Trees behind me, I am excited to be joining the Two Harbors Farmers Market group at Julebyen in the Troll Village Tent the first weekend of December.

I wish you all joy, love and laughter as we enter the Holiday Season!

Shelley Getten

We are a family of artists and teachers.  We love hosting guests from around the country at Two Harbors Hideaways and making art at Getten Creative, our home in the woods, where art happens naturally.
